In 1976, the Mystic River Mudheads club was established to promote sailboat racing and camaraderie. Over the years, the Mystic River Mudheads built a proud tradition and earned a “race hard, play hard” reputation regionally, nationally, and overseas. Their story has inspired countless sailors and continues to represent the joy and spirit of being on the water.

Carrying that same spirit forward, the Wickford Mudheads were established in 2010 to support RC sailing in the Wickford–Narragansett Bay area. Although organized racing is not currently active, the foundation of the club remains rooted in friendly competition, shared experiences, and a love of sailing. The Mudheads value time spent together on and off the water, building friendships, creating memories, and keeping the tradition alive. We remain hopeful that racing will once again return in the future, bringing back the excitement and energy that helped shape the club’s beginnings.
